ThinkPub presents:
Digital Challenges and Solutions for Smaller Book Markets at the Bologna Book Fair

➠ March 31 | 16:30 CET | AIE Theatre | Bologna Book Fair

Join us on Monday, March 31, from 16:30 to 17:15 at the AIE Theatre at the Bologna Book Fair for a dynamic panel discussion that explores how small and mid-sized publishers, especially those operating in linguistically and demographically limited markets, can respond to the challenges of digital disruption with sustainable, forward-looking strategies.

As the traditional concept of a book has evolved dramatically from printed pages to diverse formats, small to mid-sized publishers in niche markets with limited populations face unique challenges that require reinventing their business strategies to remain competitive. This is especially true for those working within linguistic constraints and narrow population reach, where digital retail and audio subscription models present a complex landscape of both obstacles and opportunities. While global platforms typically favor mass-market content, specialized digital solutions offer these publishers the chance to build sustainable business models, develop dedicated audiences, and potentially extend beyond their traditional borders.

With the participation of:

— Carlo Carrenho, Alpine Global Collective: Nordic audiobook trends vs. smaller-market strategies
— Sonia Draga, Grupa Wydawnicza: Why multi-format publishing hits smaller players hardest
— Alma Čaušević Klemenčič, Beletrina Digital: Lessons from Slovenia’s digital transformation
— Marko Hercog, Beletrina: Introduction to the ThinkPub Library and digital learning tools

Moderated by:
Rüdiger Wischenbart (Wischenbart Content and Consulting)

The session will conclude with the unveiling of ThinkPub’s roadmap of future activities and the Library of Digital Learning Objects, a new educational platform designed to equip publishers and authors with essential digital skills for today’s evolving market.
