Eugenio López Arriazu (Argentina)

Bio note

Eugenio López Arriazu (1967) is a Ph. D. in Literature from University of Buenos Aires. He also graduated from I.S.P.J.V. González as a teacher of English. He currently teaches Literatures in English and Literary Theory at the Diplomatura Superior en Cs. del Lenguaje, I.S.P.J.V. González, and American Literature and Slavic Literatures at the UBA. He has published a volume of essays and five volumes of poetry. He translates from Bulgarian, English, French, Russian and Latin. Arriazu has published translations of, among other authors, H. Botev, Georgi Gosopodinov, A. Pushkin, F. Dostoievsky, I. Tinianov, G. Aigi, F. Rabelais, A. Berman, J. Caesar, Suetonius, W. Blake and W.B. Yeats. He has won the Premio Mayor de Teatro del Mundo for his translation of W.B. Yeats’ plays and was a finalist in Chitai Rossia for his translation of G. Aigui’s poems.
 
His bi-lingual edition of Hristo Botev's poetry is published in Argentina in 2018 by Dedalus Editores, 2018



Residency goals

During his residency Eugenio Arriazu will meet writers and editors to find texts for future translations into Spanish. More specifically, Arriazu is interested in translating Konstantin Pavlov into Spanish whose work he intends to teach in Argentina. He will also continue working on his present project – a bilingual book of poetry in collaboration with Olia Khokhlova.
