Croatian poet and writer Monika Herceg is this month’s resident at the Sofia Literature and Translation House. For her active position in the field of feminism, equality and social justice, she receives the Fierce Women Award.

It is precisely the female fierceness that unites Monika and Bulgarian writer Kamelia Panayotova. In a conversation in search of similarities and differences, both in the real world and in the fiction created by the two authors, they will discuss their poetry, Monika Herceg's first novel and what brought Kamelia Panayotova to her ‘Anne’. The event will be held in English.

Moderator will be Ashira Morris, a freelance reporter based between Florida and Bulgaria. The event will be held in English.

Monika Herceg is a poet, editor and playwright. She is known for her feminist and activist contributions, for which she is given the Fierce Women award. She is the most awarded young author in recent Croatian history, with her poetry and dramas translated into twenty languages.

Kamelia Panayotova is a poet and writer. She is the author of the poetry collections ‘The Man Who Leaves’ and ‘Absences’ and the novel ‘Anne’. She has won awards in numerous literary competitions. Her texts have been published in literary periodicals and online media in Bulgaria, Mexico, Spain, the USA, and Lithuania.

Ashira Morris is a freelance reporter based between Tallahassee, Florida and Sofia, Bulgaria. She is interested in local environments and the forces that shape them, and her work has been published by Foreign Policy, Artforum, and 99 Percent Invisible. Ashira is an adjunct lecturer for the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications.
