Bio note

Samira Babaee, known by her pseudonym Semiramis Babaee, is an Iranian writer, translator, director, and theater critic. With a background in English Language and Translation, she has translated and published numerous works, including novels by James Thurber and Scott Fitzgerald. A playwright and director, her notable productions include 'The Negotiations of the Eastern Star Company' and 'The Extinct'.

She has also contributed to renowned magazines and radio programs. Recognized for her critical insights, she has received multiple awards, including Best Critic at Iran’s Theater Forum. Passionate about literature, philosophy, and the arts, she continues to shape Iranian theater and translation.

Residency goals 

During her residency at Sofia Literature and Translation House, Samira will aim to bridge Bulgarian and Persian literary cultures through translation and theater. Her primary focus will be translating selected works by contemporary Bulgarian authors, introducing Persian readers to their narratives. Additionally, she seeks to explore Bulgarian theater, selecting a play for translation and potential adaptation in Iran.
