Bio note

Anna Matilda Brück is a Finnish nonfiction writer and cultural producer. She has over 20 years of experience in journalism, publications, tv-documentaries, travel writing and mentoring. She has specialized in Russia and Eastern Europe and has experience in creating new, innovative concepts in cultural productions. She has also worked as an editor in publishing houses and content creator for web pages and social media.

Anna has studied International Journalism at the St. Petersburg State University and Russian Literature at the Helsinki University. She graduated from Humak University of Applied Sciences in Cultural Management with thesis 'Hop to Russia! The Future residency'. She is passionate about writing - she has published hundreds of articles, mainly features, and creative nonfiction books including one best seller in Finland, an underground travel book about St. Petersburg. Anna has lived in Bulgaria on-off between 2004 and 2011, writing articles for Finnish and Estonian magazines. 

Residency goals

During her creative residency in Sofia, Anna will be working on a nonfiction book about those who left St. Petersburg after February 2022. Also, she wants to connect with publishing houses, writers and translators, to deepen her knowledge about literary cooperation and future international projects. 

The residency is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Тhe Association of Finnish Nonfiction Writers in partnership with the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria and Sofia Municipality.
