Bio note

Livia-Maria Nistor is a translator and teacher based in Bucharest, Romania. She has graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest, Bulgarian-Romanian section. She also have a Master's degree in Translation and Slavic Cultural Studies from the same university.

Since 2020 Livia have a PhD in contemporary Bulgarian literature from the University of Bucharest, with a thesis on the contemporary Bulgarian novel. During her doctoral studies (2014 - 2019) she participated in the summer schools of Bulgarian language, literature and culture in Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia, and carried out research internships at the universities of Sofia, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad. Livia-Maria Nistor authored several scientific articles on contemporary Bulgarian literature, published in anthologies and magazines in Romania and Bulgaria. Her literary translations include plays, children's books, poetry.

Residency goals

During her creative residency in Sofia, Livia-Maria intends to work on the translation of the volume of poetry 'Predi da izmiyat kryvta' by Yordan Eftimov. She will also be looking for new translation projects of Bulgarian authors.

The residency is supported by the project Archipelagos, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union and by the National Culture Fund, Bulgaria.
