Bio note

Giorgia Spadoni (1996) is a translator, teacher and editor from Jesi, Italy. She has a Master's degree from Sofia University in Translation working in the combination Italian - Bulgarian. She has won the first prize in the 'Leonardo Pampuri' award for literary translation and was shortlisted for the 'Peroto' award for her Italian translation of the short stories collection 'Circo Bulgaria' by Deyan Enev (Bottega Errante Edizioni, 2023).

She has worked at the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, contributed to the weekly 'Literaturen Vestnik' and the online media 'Toest' and taught a translation course from Bulgarian into Italian at Sofia University. She is the author of several articles, translations, reviews and interviews for Italian webistes focused on current events, history and culture of Eastern Europe, among which Meridiano 13 and Est/ranei. In addition to literary translation, she is also active in film translation and interpreting for literary events and festivals – she usually translates for Georgi Gospodinov.

Residency goals

During her stay at Sofia Literature and Translation House Giorgia will be working on the Italian translation of the novels "She who remains" by Rene Karabash and "Ecstasis" by Radoslav Bimbalov that will be published in Italy in 2025

The residency is supported by the Culture Moves Europe programme and the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria.
