Bio note
Ekaterina Derisheva was born in 1994 in Melitopol, Ukraine. In 2014, she graduated from the Zaporozhe National Ukrainian college of Economics and Law, specializing in the development of computer programming. She is the author of the book tochka otscheta (2018). She has published in numerous literary journals and in the anthology 'Timpul pământului'.
Ekaterina has participated in literary festivals in Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and Germany. She was long listed for the Arkady Dragomoshchenko Prize (2019), she was awarded the prize 'Europa Mai' (2022) and her work received critical acclaim by the Ukrainian PEN club.
Her poems have been translated into English, German, Polish, Romanian, Vietnamese and Urdu. Curator and founder of the 'KNTXT' project - festival, book series, literary magazine, besed in Kharkiv. She received the scholarships 'LCB' (2022, Berlin), 'Villa Concordia' (2022, Bamberg).
Residency goals
During her stay in residence in Sofia, Ekaterina will further develop an international experimental literary project that will follow up on the 'Kontext' poetry project she worked on before the beginning of the war. She will also focus on learning more about avantgarde as well as contemporary Bulgarian poets.
