Bio note
Elias Fragakis is а director, screenwriter, writer, poet and translator. He studied Sociology at Sofia University, political science at theUniversity of Athens, music and directing at the Stavrakos Higher School of Film Arts in Athens. He is exclusively involved in cinema and theater, and writing of literary texts. He has translated ancient drama, stage works from the English and French classical repertoire, as well as contemporary drama. He translated also poetry and culturological studies, including Bogomil Raynov's study 'Mass Culture' (1985).
Some of his published books are: translation of 'Orestes' by Euripides (1996), the collection of poems' Letters to a Woman' (Traka, 2019), his short story #System Failure is included in the anthology 'The World of Yesterda, the World of Tomorrow' (Kastaniotis - Festival of Iberian and Latin American Literature LEA-Athens, 2020), three of his haiku are included in the anthology 'Spring Haiku' (Anemology, 2021), the novel 'Maricés' (Estia, 2021). Elias is a member of the Union of Greek Directors, the International Theater Institute, the Forum of European Directors and is co-founder of the International Association of University Theaters. He was Greece's representative to the European Federation of Audiovisual Creators (FERA).
Residency goals
During his residency stay at Sofia Literature and Translation House Elias Fragakis will be working on his new novel enclosed to the nowadays Bulgarian life.
