Bio
Blagorodna (Roni) Filevska is a historian and ethnologist, journalist and а freelance translator. Since 1997 she has been living and working in Athens, Greece. She works as a historian researcher, a scientific consultant, a journalist and a publisher of a newspaper for the Bulgarian diaspora in Greece, as well as a sports’ commentator and sound engineer, executive producer, screenwriter and assistant director of freelance documentaries and commercials, and as a translator - mainly from Bulgarian into Greek and vice versa.
She is a member of the Union of the Bulgarian journalists and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). Since 2019 she is a member of the Board of the Greek Union of Sciences Committee for the Study of Southeast Europe - Greek Center for the Study of Southeast Europe.
During the last few years she has translated 'There is no such book and other stories' (Enastron, Athens, 2021) a collection of selected stories by Lyudmil Stanev and the poetry book 'Motor Songs' by Nikola Vaptsarov (Irini publishing house, Athens, 2021).
Residency goals
During her residency in Sofia Blagorodna Filevska will be working on the translation of Teodora Dimova’s novel 'The Mothers', as well as of the poetry books 'Pillar of Dust' and 'Book of Silence' by Boris Hristov.
