Bio
Yana Skalkina (1985) is a translator, teacher of Bulgarian language for foreigners. She also promotes Bulgarian language, culture, traditions, and customs – through Instagram and via creation of educational videos on YouTube.
Her interest in literary translation starts while she studies Bulgarian Studies at the Moscow State University. She takes part in several literature competitions for young writers and translators. She is interested mainly in contemporary Bulgarian literature and translates authors such as Teodora Dimova, Kerana Angelova, Georgi Gospodinov, Emanuil Vidinski, etc.
Residency goals
During her residency stay she will be working on the translation of a few stories, written by Zdravka Evtimova.
