Miodrag Kojadinović (Serbia)

Bio note

Miodrag Kojadinović is a writer and a photographer. He was born just across the border from Bulgaria and has lived in Serbia and Canada. He has been studying, researching, and teaching at universities in Netherlands, Hungary, Norway, Mainland China and Macau. His two books, Under Thunderous Skies (Earnshaw Books) and Érotiques Suprèmes (Choose the Sword Press) were both published in October 2015 (in Hong Kong and California respectively), the second winning Lambda Literature Award in New York in July 2016. He also edited Čitanka istopolnih studija, a collection of theoretical texts in Serbian by lecturers and first genration students of a programme he initiated and coordinated, and co-edited an anthology of fiction in English, the Birkensnake 6 annual issue, together with Megan Milks.

His poetry, fiction and non-fiction appeared in cca 130 journals in 26 countries in 14 languages. He took part in several documentaries (one made about him) and has had his photography shown at collective exhibitions in 8 countries.

Residency goals

During his residency stay in Sofia, he worked on a collection of stories related to migration and identity, a theme he started exploring in both his collections from 2015, partly inspired by personal experience and narrations of family history, a fragment of which is connected with Bulgaria.
