Bio note
Ashraf Rady is an Egyptian journalist, political scientist and translator. He translates literary fiction as well as social sciences from English into Arabic, and is interested in promoting contemporary Balkan authors in Arabic translation via English.
Residency goals
Rady's residency in Sofia is within the
Translation Collider project that includes participation at the Sofia Forum on Translations, as well as in the collective residency work on translating contemporary Balkan authors into Arabic. His project is on translating the Croatian author Marinco Koscec's work
A Handful of Sand (Istros Book, 2015) via English into Arabic.
