Bio note
Elena Kalashnikova is a freelance journalist, scholar, curator and organiser of series of literary and music events in Moskow. Her book
From Russian with Love: Interviews with Literary Translators (
Novoe literature obozrenie, 2008) was awarded in 2009 by the reputable magazine
Innostranaia literatura and in 2008 got the honourable diploma of the Guild of the Masters of Literary Translation for "the outstanding contribution to the development and traditions of literary translation in Russia".
She has also edited
Übersetzer sind die Wechselpferde der Aufklärung (Berlin, Frank & Timme GmbH, 2014) and is author of the series "Jerusalem parables".
Residency goals
During her residency stay Lena worked on the second volume of her book, interviewing prominent Bulgarian translators of Russian literature such as Zdravka Petrova, Ivan Totomanov, Gela Georgieva, Penka Keneva, Daria Haralanova.
