Translating Current Debates

The Translating Current Debates Program aims at making available translations of contemporary titles in social sciences and humanities for the academic and wider audiences in Central and Eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union. The program is a smaller-scale continuation of Translation Project focused exclusevely on contemporary books on issues related to the priorities of the Open Society Network. Topics include but are not limited to: information society, globalization, democracy, human rights, public policy, minorities issues, etc.

Proposals are accepted throughout the year. Publishers can apply by sending a letter of inquiry including name of the author, title, year and publisher of original publication, a brief annotation as well as motivation of the need of the translation. All proposals are reviewed by a team of international consultants. If approved, publishers are invited to submit an application. Invitation to submit application is not a guarantee that the proposal will be granted. Application procedures and criteria are available here.
